“Well crafted and thoughtful...blending black comedy, lyricism and social critique.”
—Jonathan Holland, Variety

Black humor infuses this film in which need meets greed across class differences for a story that radiates pathos and low-key charm. Marcela (Solier), a Bolivian immigrant living hand-to-mouth with her flower-seller boyfriend in Madrid, takes a job as caregiver for Amador, an elderly man. She barely has time to establish a rapport before her crusty charge dies. Despite the corpse in the bedroom, a nosy landlord, and an insistent hooker with a weekly appointment, Marcela strives to maintain the illusion that the man alive and well as she waits in trepidation for the return of his vacationing family. In Spanish with English subtitles. 35mm widescreen. (BS)
