"Anyone interested in what downtown New York used to be should check out the fascinating new documentary BEAUTIFUL DARLING."-
—Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

“A sad, lyrical reflection on the foolish worship of movie stars.”
—Stephen Holden, The New York Times

Subtitled THE LIFE AND TIMES OF CANDY DARLING, ANDY WARHOL SUPERSTAR, this chronicle traces the transformation of a Long Island boy named James Slattery into the most glamorous of superstars in Warhol’s hermetically-sealed pantheon of self-invented factory glitterati. Modeling herself after Kim Novak, platinum beauty Darling was photographed by Mapplethorpe and Avedon, immortalized by Lou Reed in "Walk on the Wild Side," and starred in Warhol’s TRASH and Tennessee Williams’s Small Craft Warnings. Director Rasin poignantly covers her equally swift plunge to the depths, the victim of Warhol’s short attention span and the ephemeral nature of celebrity. With Fran Lebowitz and Chloë Sevigny.
