"Light-hearted…easy on the eye and strewn with humorous gems." - Deborah Young, Hollywood Reporter

"Ms. Huppert's presence - steady, warm, thoughtful but with a casual air - keeps the entire enterprise classically comedic." - Glenn Kenny, The New York Times

In her second starring outing with quirky prolific director (and SAIC graduate) Hong, Huppert (SOUVENIR, ELLE) plays Claire, a Parisian schoolteacher and amateur photographer who becomes the charming catalyst in a comedy of errors involving fallout from the love triangle of three Korean strangers, set against the sparkling Mediterranean background of Cannes. Although taking place during the festival, the film eschews glamour and the hubbub of crowds for a leisurely focus on the plight of assistant film sales agent Man-hee (Kim of THE HANDMAIDEN) who's just been fired by her prickly boss for reasons not entirely clear. "If I take a photo of you, you are not the same person anymore," declares Claire, wielding her ever-present Polaroid with a conviction that makes it come true for her new friends in unexpected ways. Hong's talent for conjuring up ironic comedy from the rubble of self-delusion and unwise romance shines with a continental flair. In Korean, English, and French with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
