Saturday, September 16, 6:00 p.m. |  The first feature directed by Zeinabu irene Davis, COMPENSATION interweaves two love stories set in Chicago, one at the turn of the 20th century and the other in the present, as the couples–played by the same actors (Michelle A. Banks and John Earl Jelks)–face the epidemics of their time, tuberculosis and HIV-AIDS, and the challenges of pursuing romantic relationships between deaf and hearing people. Navigating differences of background, class, and ability, the couples seek meaningful connection in often inhospitable environments.
