To receive student and AIC/SAIC pricing, tickets MUST be purchased in person at the box office. A valid student ID or ARTICard is required as proof of discount.
Kids ages 6-17 are admitted at the student price.
A quick note about kids: The Film Center does not admit children under the age of 6 unless noted for special programs (any special pricing for kids under 6 will also be noted). Our films are generally not rated and are geared toward patrons over 13 years of age. Full descriptions of our films are included on this site and in our print schedule; parents should review the descriptions and use their best judgement when deciding if a film is appropriate for their children.
There is no senior admission price for individual tickets. However, seniors do receive a $5 discount on Film Center membership.
Online Ticket Sales
Click on the green filmstrip icon beneath the showtimes on a film description page. You can also visit the main ticket page for a complete listing of all programs currently on sale (listed alphabetically by title).
Select the number of tickets you'd like for a given show and click "Checkout". If you'd like to purchase additional tickets for another show, click on "Continue Shopping". When you are done selecting tickets, click "Checkout" again on the "My Cart" page.
You will need to create an account to checkout, which will allow for the tracking and retrieval of your order and will track the history of your orders. The information you provide is completely confidential and for use only by the Gene Siskel Film center of the School or the Art Institute of Chicago. It will not be sold, given, or traded to third party companies.
Purchasing Member Tickets:
To purchase member tickets online, follow the procedure above, but select the number of member tickets you'd like to purchase (1 for individual, 2 for dual) for each film. No special code is required, however, you must present a valid membership card at the box office when claiming your tickets for each member ticket purchased. If you purchase a membership level ticket but are not currently a Film Center member, you will be charged the difference in price.
There is a $1.50 service charge for each ticket purchased online.
Please note that the tickets cannot be purchased over the phone.
Groups of 20 or more are eligible for the group rate of $8 per ticket. Please call 312.846.2600 or visit the box office (hours below) in advance (5 days before the show is best) to make arrangements for your group.
If you are bringing a larger group (over 40 people), are interested in buying out the theater for a particular show, or are interested in bringing a school group, please contact Pamela Smith at 312.846.2073 or email@example.com.
All ticket levels are available at the Gene Siskel Film Center box office, which opens one hour before the first show of the day and closes after the last show of the day begins. Generally, this means the box office is open from 5PM-8:30PM, Monday through Friday; 2:00PM-8:30PM on Saturday; and 2:00PM-5:30PM on Sunday. Please check the calendar to find the first show for a specific day.
The box office number is 312.846.2085 and is answered during its hours of operation for questions regarding accessibility for the disabled, lost and found, and other general facility questions.
Please keep in mind that the box office CANNOT accept ticket orders over the phone, place tickets on hold, or predict ticket availability. During periods of heavy customer traffic, the box office may not be able to answer the phone; please leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
Refund & Exchanges
The Film Center does not offer refunds for tickets. All sales are final. We now offer exchanges on tickets with a $2 per ticket fee. Exchanges must happen in person at the box office no later that 1 hour before showtime. Subject to availability.
Sold Out Shows
If a show sells out in advance, we will make every effort to notify our patrons via our website, social media outlets, email alerts, movie hotline, and with signage on our doors and at our box office.
However, many movies tend to sell out just prior to their showtimes (5-10 minutes). The best way to avoid last-minute sellouts is to arrive at the Film Center 15-25 minutes before your movie begins so you have time to purchase your tickets and concessions and get a good seat (all seats are general admission).
Please note that Film Center membership does not guarantee a ticket in the event of a sold out show.
