While Fassbinder, Wenders, and the other marquee names of the 1970s-80s New German Cinema were making rounds on the international art-house and film-festival circuits, a parallel group of German genre and exploitation filmmakers were quietly establishing themselves at home, unafraid to challenge the political and moral norms of the era. Co-directors Graf (BELOVED SISTERS) and Sievert pay tribute to this era of ruddy and impassioned filmmaking in DOOMED LOVE. Through film clips and interviews, Graf and Sievert uncover a parallel filmmaking industry unbridled by conventions or decorum that remains largely unknown outside of Germany.
