“Extraordinary…an intimate portrait of a fascinating man.” — Rob Aldam, Backseat Mafia
In a world of showboating fashion designers, Belgian Dries van Noten, descended from generations of tailors, has always stood apart in his reticence, allowing his famously sumptuous and richly embellished collections to speak for themselves. Filmmaker Holzemer (WILLIAM EGGLESTON: PHOTOGRAPHER) goes to the heart of the secretive empire, following van Noten and his partner Patrick Vangheluwe at work and at home, over one year and the creation of four collections, while tracing the designer’s career from his early years as one of the groundbreaking Antwerp Six. Designing with the fabric itself, van Noten is observed draping on live models in preparation for the 2016 show at the Palais Garnier in Paris. In English and Flemish with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
