“An admiring, even loving celebration.” — Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

The friendship of Timothy Leary and Ram Dass (formerly known as Richard Alpert), legendary pillars of the American counterculture, comes full circle in this deeply felt yet joyful chronicle of the relationship that harks back to their days as outlaw Harvard professors and their pioneering research in psychedelic drugs. In the film’s present, LSD-advocate Leary is facing death from cancer, an event he anticipates as just the next step in his existence, while Ram Dass, renowned author of "Be Here Now," recalls his past struggle with his own homosexuality as the two range over a lifetime of learning and discovery in this, their last ever meeting. Director Dillingham fills in the gaps with an engaging chronology of the politics, cultural upheaval, and generational shifts inherent in their intersecting life journeys. DCP digital. (BS)
