“Evidence that Chile is a hotbed of talent behind and in front of the camera.” — Bradley Warren, The Playlist
“Witty and poignant…rippling playfully into themes of solitude, love, companionship and the multiple dangers of male insecurity.” — Jonathan Holland, Hollywood Reporter
A lonely house-sitter adrift in an early mid-life crisis sheds his slacker identity like a snakeskin and assumes the persona, résumé, and lifestyle of his absent host, but with a new sympathy-grabbing back-story. Humor lies just under the troubled surface as boyish forty-something Martin makes himself comfortable in the upscale home by marking his territory in rude and outlandish ways. While in search of the missing family cat he hooks up with neighbor Pachi, a single mother. An erotic idyll plays out over the weeks of Martin’s tenure in the house, his lover mightily impressed with this supposed divorced professor and the closet full of expensive clothes left by his ex. The time of reckoning draws near, and neither Martin nor his hosts are quite what they appear. Winner of Best Film and the Grand Jury Prize at the recent Miami Film Festival. In Spanish with English subtitles. Note: Contains nudity and sexual activity. DCP digital. (BS)
