“A juicy tale of death, madness and mind-bending supernatural weirdness.” — Stephen Dalton, Hollywood Reporter
A wild mix of genres keeps the plot edgy in this thrillingly ghostly adventure based on real events from director Liiv’s Soviet-era youth. Riding the Trans-Siberian railway to the spectacular outer reaches of Siberia, Estonian geology students on winter break take off on a mountain-climbing expedition with a secret plan to illegally harvest semi-precious stones. Led by nerdy, unpopular Olle, the group is soon divided by rivalries and over competition for the attention of a pretty blonde med student. When Olle disappears in a freak avalanche, the survivors are left to the sinister hospitality of a Mongolian village and its corrupt Soviet police chief, as suspicion falls on the hikers themselves, but local folklore suggests foul play in the supernatural realm.
