A suicide is the unlikely spark that cements a love affair and then ultimately threatens to destroy it in this psychological thriller centering on the downward-trending relationship of two young Brits on extended holiday on the picturesque island of Gozo off the coast of Malta. Director Bowen (a former exchange student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago), brings dreamy but sinister supernatural elements to bear, as the idyllic beach-bound life of film-sound engineer Joe (Kennedy) and his outgoing girlfriend Lucille (Lovibond) becomes tainted by foreboding and jealousy when she bonds with a glib American expat, and he begins to hear things he believes are not of this world.
