In conjunction with the first explicitly queer show of the same name at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (website), these nine shorts focus on the power of the perverse, the sexual, and the potentially violent. In dialogue with multiple modes of sexuality and investigations into S&M culture and practice, these shorts are “taking it”--taking queer cinema into another realm and dimensional space. The program includes: LA PETIT MORT (2010, Barbara DeGenevieve, 4 min.), KING NEPTUNE (2012, Ivan LOZANO, 15 min.), REGARDING THE PAIN OF SUSAN SONTAG (NOTES ON CAMP) (2006, Steve Reinke, 4 min.), PISS (2012, Kris Harzinski and Will Haughery, 1 min.), BATHHOUSE (2011, Dan Paz, 10 min.), FUCK (2012, Kris Harzinski and Will Haughery, 3 min.), FOR A LONG TIME, ALL I COULD DO WAS SURRENDER (2011, Marissa Perel and Oli Rodriguez, 5 min.), SPIT (2012, Kris Harzinski and Will Haughery, 1 min.), ALONE WITH YOU (2012, Doug Ischar, 18 min.), THE JETTISONED (2010, Meredith Zielke and Yoni Goldstein, 4 min.), COLLABORATION #5B (2010, EI JANE JANET LIN and Miao Jiaxin, 4 min.).
