"Plays with themes of religion and immigration as it rumbles, crashes, and ultimately soars…strikes it with style and confidence." - Rory O'Connor, The Film Stage

"Stunning, often beguiling and always visually inventive…finds the grace it's looking for in its magnificent supple camerawork." - Jessica Kiang, Variety

This fast-moving genre-bending hybrid inspires wonder as it careens through human rights drama, thriller, supernatural fantasy, and quasi-religious message film to end up as an action-packed black comedy. Director Mundruczó (WHITE GOD) tops himself with a magic realist tale of Aryan (Jéger), an illegal Syrian immigrant who rises miraculously from a violent death able to levitate at will, only to be cruelly blackmailed and exploited by a corrupt doctor, who represents the young man to gullible clients as an angelic healer. The story slides imperceptibly into a zanier mode that includes a heart-stopping car chase, SWAT-team action in the Grand Budapest Hotel, and a satisfying side of redemption.
