Laure Prouvost

The brilliantly anarchic videos of French-born, London-based artist Laure Prouvost run wild with the rules of cinema, narrative, and language. Prouvost’s humorous, fast-paced works often feature surreal tales jarringly interrupted by self-conscious text, unsettling imagery, or the artist herself, at once undermining and adding new meaning to the original story. Prouvost, who is also the founder and former artistic director of Tank.tv, a major web platform for artists’ moving image, will present her own works alongside clips culled from YouTube and Prouvost’s personal collection, short films by Owen Land and John Latham, and a short performance.
