LIFE AS LINCOLN
2010, Caitlin Grogan, USA, 78 min.

Donning a stovepipe hat does not alone a Lincoln make, but as this documentary makes clear, our 16th president has a way of exerting influence beyond the grave over the varied men who choose to walk in his shoes for fun and profit. It’s not all mall openings and Gettysburg Address recitations, as journalist Grogan shows in these profiles of three Midwestern Lincoln presenters: a retiree with a family connection to Lincoln; a single foster parent; and a former theater professor. The film charts the surprising ways in which each has come to adjust his beliefs, politics, and view of life in the course of impersonating Honest Abe. Produced by Split Pillow, a Chicago-based non-profit motion picture production and media literacy education company. HDCAM video. (BS)
