"Plays like a bonus track to UNCLE BOONMEE WHO CAN RECALL HIS PAST LIVES." – Maggie Lee, Variety
"Best enjoyed by just allowing the director’s images and atmosphere wash over you.” – Ben Nicholson, CineVue
In this short feature that had its world premiere in the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, Weerasethakul once again explores the interface between the spirit world and the human world, a perennial theme in his work. Ravishing imagery in a riverside setting gives the story of a vampire mother and her vengeful ghost daughter a timeless quality. As always, the director’s spirits are portrayed as solidly human, creating an effect that is simultaneously earthbound yet thoroughly haunting. In Thai with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
