MY QUEEN KARO

Based in part on director van den Bergh’s own experiences growing up in a commune, this colorful coming-of-age drama/comedy conveys the spirit of the flower-power era in all its giddy license and colliding cultures. Tomboyish ten-year-old Karo and her parents are squatters in an Amsterdam hippy utopia. With a child’s-eye view on unbridled love, communal living, and free (shoplifted) everything, Karo learns something new about possessiveness when dad Raven brings home a dark-eyed siren and her two kids to join the family.
