"Sublime ... a document of the day-to-day tenderness of a long-lasting, even lifelong bond." – Ray Pride, Newcity

"Visual poetry…many of the passages in this gentle film may be universal, but the love here is extraordinary.” — Andy Webster, The New York Times

"Enormously affecting, devastating in fact…a moving tribute to the beauties and mysteries of life and death.” — Katie Walsh, Los Angeles Times

This touchingly romantic tale of a real-life marriage unfolds over four seasons in which a Korean couple tease and joke like kids, go dancing, shopping, and picnicking, and fall asleep every night holding hands. Jo is 98, and his wife Kang is 89; they have been married for 76 years. Joys and pains of the past merge with the present as they still mourn the long-ago deaths from measles of six of their twelve children, suffer distress over family squabbles, and celebrate the birth of puppies. Their relationship is approaching an inevitable parting in this documentary that has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide, and has become Korea’s biggest independent blockbuster of all time. Visually entrancing and deeply emotional, this unique film provides a palpable vision of love that transcends death. In Korean with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
