“A spirited coming-of-age story…a stylish and assured film about self-discovery as an on-going adventure.” — Toronto International Film Festival program
“Impressive…layered with elegant photography.” — Donald Clarke, Irish Times
The world of Emily (Lynch, HARRY POTTER’s Luna Lovegood) is upended with her mother’s death, and the key to righting it comes in the form of an uncharted and soul-awakening road trip into the heart of Ireland. Emily’s father (Smiley), a published self-help guru, is ironically unable to help himself in the wake of the tragedy, leaving his daughter with kind but cold relatives when he commits himself to a psychiatric hospital. Determined to rescue her beloved dad from himself, she cons a smitten schoolmate into undertaking a rebellious journey that becomes the true dawn of adulthood for them both. In a remarkable feat, director Fitzmaurice, completely paralyzed as a result of advancing ALS, wrote the script and directed using eye-gaze technology. In English. Courtesy of Visit Films.
