A real estate magnate’s suicide following his bankruptcy leaves his daughter Negar (Javaherian), an avid horsewoman, both heartbroken and suspicious, especially when his former friends and enemies quickly divide the spoils. In a radical change of pace from his high school-set spoof NO ENTRY FOR MEN, director Javan pulls out all the stops in this genre-bending thriller-melodrama with an over-the-top sense of the surreal. The ghost of Negar’s father (Ali Shojanoori) makes regular appearances with clues to his betrayal and murder, while hallucinations and dreams, special effects, directorial sleight of hand, and one rotten-to-the-core villain (Mani Haghighi) keep this edgy plot full of surprises. In Persian with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
