Chicago premiere! Gilbert Gottfried via Skype!

"An appealing, amusing look at a true original." — Jason Bailey, Flavorwire

He's obnoxious, he's tasteless, he's politically incorrect — and, as this intimate, highly entertaining documentary reveals, he's also a shy family man and a brilliant, fearless artist. Going behind the carefully crafted, screechy-voiced persona, director Berkeley captures the complexity that is Gilbert Gottfried: a cheapskate who hoards free samples, a wealthy celebrity who still treks the comedy-club circuit, a once-prudish comedian who became exultingly raunchy, and a devoted parent with two spunky kids and a loving, very patient wife (although she does wish he'd lay off the incest jokes). Gottfried also maintains an obstinate, even heroic integrity, refusing to consider any cow too sacred (as demonstrated by his notorious 9/11 and tsunami jokes), but, as he says, "Wherever tragedy is, comedy is looking over its shoulder, sticking its tongue out." On Sunday 11/26, Gilbert Gottfried is scheduled to appear via Skype for audience discussion, moderated by Steve Prokopy, Film Critic for Third Coast Review.
