It's screwball Italian style, flavored with Jewish wit à la Woody and straight-up slapstick à la Stan & Ollie, in this bright twist on the classic comedy trope of the uptight male whose life is upended by a madcap female. Top Italian actor Toni Servillo (THE GREAT BEAUTY, IL DIVO) gets a chance to flex his comic talents as a Rome-based Jewish psychiatrist who likes to keep life at a comfortable, well-managed distance- including his wife Giovanna, separated but living on cordial terms in the apartment right next door. Then his doctor's orders to get more exercise put him on a collision course with a hot-blooded fitness instructor (Echegui of YOU'RE KILLING ME SUSANA) who becomes his personal trainer and whose baggage includes a son who likes to set things on fire and a jailbird boyfriend (Luca Marinelli) who needs the shrink's hypnosis skills to help him remember where he buried a pile of ill-gotten loot. In Italian with English subtitles. Courtesy of Menemsha Films. DCP digital widescreen. (MR)
