"Distinctive in its delicate perversity…its insular, spellbinding gorgeousness is the work of creative artists on their own wavelength." - Michael Philips, Chicago Tribune

"If I was asked to name only one film from the last 12 months that I thought will continue to be viewed, studied and adored for as long as people continue to do such things, my instant answer would be PHANTOM THREAD." - Peter Sobczynski, eFilmCritic

Nominated for six Oscars, winner for Costume Design, and alleged to be star Daniel Day-Lewis's swansong on the big screen, this saga of Reynolds Jeremiah Woodcock, a self-possessed 1950s London fashion designer to the elite, blends high drama with the lushly refined spectacle of haute couture. The only long-term relationship maintained by stiffly elegant couturier (Day-Lewis) is with his jealous gatekeeper of a sister (Manville), until the day he brings home Alma (Krieps, of GUTLAND), a shy waitress from a seaside hotel. Director Anderson (THERE WILL BE BLOOD, THE MASTER) makes Woodcock's meticulous fanaticism a template for the film's intricately calculated emotion and the geography of the perverse implied triangle consisting of Woodcock, sister, and lover, as Alma unexpectedly grows into her role as adversary and equal.
