A new film by the award-winning director of THE REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN, QUEEN OF THE SUN examines the place of honeybees in the food chain and hauntingly follows the story of their disappearance from the world’s gardens, fields and orchards. A performance artist whose body is covered in live bees is one of the arresting images signaling that this is no ordinary documentary about looming ecological distress. Director Siegel weaves a fascinating history of the bee and a look at life inside the hive into a cautionary tale that features interviews with beekeepers, scientists, and philosophers including Michael Pollan, Gunther Hauk, and Vandana Shiva.
