—Film Threat

Words become the catalyst for quirky romance in QWERTY, shot on location in Chicago, when two reclusive nerds recognize the rebel in each other. Words, specifically, “You’re better than your underwear,” shouted in a busy department store, get security guard Marty (Hailey) fired, but Scrabble enthusiast Zoe (Pupkin) knows a prince when she sees one. While the non-verbal phase of their relationship takes off between the sheets, the two loners make a shaky stand against the world, with Marty teetering on the brink of suicide and shy wordsmith Zoe on the edge of leaping into the National Scrabble Championship. HDCAM video. (BS)

Director Bill Sebastian, producers Jeremy Truelove and Nat Dykeman, writer Juliet McDaniel, and actress Dana Pupkin will be present for audience discussion on Saturday. Nat Dykeman will be present on Monday and Wednesday.
