The Complete Jean Vigo

November 30 - December 5

Jean Vigo (1905-1934) is one of the most important filmmakers whose entire oeuvre can be viewed comfortably in one sitting. Dead of tuberculosis at age 29, he left behind four films of varying lengths, all of them remarkable, two of them groundbreaking masterpieces. Working closely with the great cinematographer Boris Kaufman, Vigo in his films combines anarchist politics, documentary realism, poetic surrealism, and innovative technique. His films still seem fresh and experimental. We present new 4K digital restorations of all four films, divided into two programs.
