“Begins with an uncomfortable truth buried…highly accomplished and fluid filmmaking.” — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

“A brilliantly staged, searingly confrontational chamber piece.” — Ann Hornaday, Washington Post

With a troubled marriage at its heart, Oscar-winning THE SALESMAN presents a layered narrative similar in complexity to director Farhadi’s 2015 Oscar-winning film A SEPARATION, evolving into a moral maze of conflicting stories. Married actors Emad (Hosseini) and Rana (Alidoosti) are co-starring in a Tehran stage adaptation of Arthur Miller’s "Death of a Salesman" when they are forced to flee their structurally damaged apartment for a rental unit with a tangled history. One night Rana is assaulted in the shower by an intruder, but her recounting of the event doesn’t add up. The presence of the former tenant’s belongings in a locked room adds to the mystery when stage fiction and real life collide. In Persian with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
