  2. With Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez

“Funny, moving, hip and transcendent all at the same time, THE WAY is both deeply thoughtful and enormous fun to watch.”
—Ann Hornaday, Washington Post

“Martin Sheen is a very compelling actor...Emilio Estevez is a very sensitive director.”
—Neil Genzlinger, The New York Times

A pilgrimage by any definition, THE WAY is a road movie (on foot!), a travel chronicle featuring breathtaking vistas of northern France and Spain along the historic Camino de Santiago, a father’s search for the son he waited too long to know, and a journey of self-discovery. It’s also a family affair, with Emilio Estevez directing dad Martin Sheen in what some critics have hailed as a career performance. The adult son of Tom Avery (Sheen), a California doctor, is killed in a freak accident while hiking the 1000-year-old route. Avery elects to complete the walk and scatter his son’s ashes, finding unexpected friendship, legendary Spanish hospitality, and surprising revelations along the way. 35mm. (BS)
