"Urging us to grin in the face of impending death, TRUMAN handles grim material with grace, humor, and the honesty of two old friends who tell it like it is." — Matthew Anderson, CineVue

"Warm human drama...Gay shows that it's possible to entertain a crowd and say something significant." — Amber Wilkinson, Eye for Film

TRUMAN dominated the 2016 Goya awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor. The great Argentinian actor Ricardo Darín (NINE QUEENS, THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES) has the role of a lifetime as Julián, a onetime movie star who decides to stop his cancer treatments and face death squarely. The too-often thoughtless Julián, who has burned a lot of bridges in his time, is not about to mellow out now, and he still has unfinished business to attend to — including a last visit from his lifelong friend Tomás (Cámara, Goya-winner for Best Supporting Actor), and finding a home for his beloved dog, Truman. The actors and writer-director Gay (IN THE CITY) skillfully deploy humor and subtlety to paint a candid, unsentimental portrait of a flawed but magnetically vital man.
