Five Chicago-area African American teenagers from diverse backgrounds are profiled in this documentary that allows the young people to speak for themselves in describing their challenges and dreams. Suburbanite Morgan excels in a mostly-white world; Sheldon, a former convicted felon, works as a community organizer and struggles to be both a student and a parent; Rosalee is the first member of her family to attend college; honor roll student Carter was adopted by a gay couple after years in foster care; and genderqueer activist Ace confronts issues of sexual identity and race at home and at school.
