"Amusingly bittersweet yet quietly resplendent." - Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times

"Both casual and musically precise…cosmically startling." - A.O. Scott, The New York Times

Master of treating romantic obsession and self-delusion, prolific director Hong (CLAIRE'S CAMERA, IN ANOTHER COUNTRY), a School of the Art Institute of Chicago alum, builds a playful farce around the efforts of Bogwan (Kwon), a middle-aged book publisher, to conceal his marital peccadillos on a day when he welcomes Areum (Kim of THE HANDMAIDEN), a newly hired assistant, to his office. A sly sense of humor informs the film's intricate mirror-image rounds of mistaken identity, missed connections, and misunderstandings, as Hong subtly lampoons the preening pretensions of male privilege in a triangular plot involving Areum, rejected lover Changsook (Kim Sae-byuk), and Bogwan's violently jealous wife. In Korean with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
