"Lensed with great sensitivity and style and superbly acted." - Deborah Young, Hollywood Reporter

"Powerfully understated drama…every aspect of the execution on display here posits Jalilvand as among Iran's most assured directors to have emerged in this decade." - Godfrey Cheshire, RogerEbert.com

A late-night car accident pulls a prosperous doctor and a laborer transporting his family on his rickety motorbike into a spiraling tragedy that threatens to destroy both men when a child later dies, and justice and conscience work at cross purposes. Dr. Nariman (Aghaee), a pathologist, is stricken with panic when the little boy from the previous night's accident turns up in his clinic's morgue as a body prepared for autopsy. Death is attributed to another cause, indirectly implicating the distraught father Moosa (Mohammadzadeh in a powerfully emotional performance). Wracked by guilt and doubt for differing reasons, father and doctor embark on a collision course of action. Director Jalilvand (WEDNESDAY, MAY 9) taps into the major theme of contemporary Iranian cinema - the moral dilemma (represented most famously by Asghar Farhadi's Oscar-winning A SEPARATION) - with a heart-rending twist of a father's grief and a family broken. In Persian with English subtitles. DCP digital. (BS)
