The Sense Of Beauty
Il senso della bellezza
2017, Valerio Jalongo, Switzerland/Italy, 75 min.
- Fri, Sep 28th 6:00pm
Director Jalongo chronicles a quest to unravel the mysteries of the universe through an audacious experiment conducted by the CERN research center in Switzerland, where 10,000 scientists from around the world prepare a unique collaboration using the largest machine ever built by human beings. Art, nature, and science merge in this precisely timed operation in search of the most minute bit of matter generated in the one-millionth of a second following the Big Bang. The smallest of microcosms promises to open a new door to the greatest of macrocosms, as scientists of all philosophical and spiritual persuasions await the moment with baited breath. Co-presented with the Italian Cultural Institute, Chicago, and Expo Chicago. DCP digital. (BS)
Friday 9/28: Director Valerio Jalongo is scheduled to appear for audience discussion moderated by Anadi Canepa, physicist at CERN.
