"Director Roger Michell wisely just turns on his cameras and lets the ladies rip…it's delicious - sweet, tart, surprisingly moving and funny as hell." - Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

"Consistently hilarious…could have gone on for twice as long without ever feeling like too much of a good thing." - Dave White, The Wrap

Tart tongues and acid wit rule in this sparkling documentary when four famous dames - the British titled kind - meet up for tea and no-holds-barred conversation that ranges from nostalgic and introspective to ribald. Longtime friends and much-honored veterans of stage and screen, Dames Judi Dench (VICTORIA & ABDUL, SKYFALL), Maggie Smith ("Downton Abbey," THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE), Eileen Atkins ("The Crown," GOSFORD PARK), and Joan Plowright (ENCHANTED APRIL) spend an afternoon at the country home of Plowright, Laurence Olivier's widow. There they engage in teasing and laughter, rapid-fire banter, career reminiscences, and tales from the past, including gossip about co-stars, husbands, and ex-husbands. Director Michell keeps it casual, with the film crew wandering in and out of the shots, and conversations punctuated by the addition of tantalizing clips of his subjects' career highlights and private and family moments.
