"A radical feminist story set in a stunning locale, with an exciting, Barry Lyndon-esque score, and Bennett's magnetic presence, the TIFF favourite about early, dangerous feminism and the brave soul who abided is unusual and welcome." - Anne Brodie, What She Said

"Bennett lifts the story up just like the bubbles in the veuve's own delicious champagne, showing us the brilliance in this biopic drama." - Therese Lacson, Collider

In Thomas Napper’s rousing WIDOW CLICQUOT, it is the early 1800s in France, and the young Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot’s is in mourning after the untimely death of her beloved husband, winemaker François. Named Veuve (the French word for widow), Barbe-Nicole is determined to protect her family’s legacy and vineyard, despite the financial risk and the Napoleonic Code barring women from running businesses. Picking up where her husband left off, Widow Clicquot begins exploring revolutionary techniques in blending and bottling and takes a leap of faith with her own blend of sparkling wine. Led by the captivating Haley Bennett as Barbe-Nicole, WIDOW CLICQUOT is a rousing and inspiring biopic that equally celebrates the chemistry of wine and a true story of female entrepreneurship.
