“Though BLACK RABBIT WHITE RABBIT functions as a meta-film, an exploration of filmmaking itself and of fluid, interwoven realities, it retains the structure of a mystery.”  - Martin Kudlac, Screen Anarchy

Saturday, June 6, 11:30 a.m. & Monday, June 8, 5:45 p.m. | BLACK RABBIT WHITE RABBIT is simultaneously a puzzle and a celebration of movie-making. A director is remaking a classic Iranian film in Tajikistan. The studio armorer is worried that the gun they intend to use is not a prop gun and fears the consequences. A young woman arrives at the location insisting that she be given an audition. At the same time, in another part of town, Sara, recently recovered from a car crash, suddenly realizes that her accident was all part of a conspiracy. These people’s destinies inevitably intertwine in a series of ingeniously crafted long takes shifting from whimsical to devastating to surreal. Set amid the machinations of a lively movie-set and full of doubles and doppelgangers, BLACK RABBIT WHITE RABBIT reminds us that reality can be constructed from nothing and sometimes difficult to ascertain.
