“The mash-up of references is deliberate and rewarding: Death Proof is so many things, in the way ’70s American cinema often used to be. It’s southern Gothic, it’s a chicksploitation movie, it’s a psycho movie.” - Damon Wise, Empire

“Smart attention is also paid to some interesting tensions between old and new in areas as varied as pop culture, photography, effects work, automobile construction, telephony and audio recording technology.” - Ben Walters, TimeOut

Real life stunt woman Zoe Bell plays herself in this grind-house inspired road-rage slasher. Up against Stuntman Mike (played by a delightfully smarmy and unhinged Kurt Russell), Zoe and her car full of girlfriends must defend themselves in a high speed chase against Mike’s trick car, doctored to cause maximum damage.
