HOW LUCKY CAN ONE MAN GET

October 10th, 2026 will mark the 80th birthday of John Prine, one of America’s most beloved songwriters and a model advocate for thoughtfulness, generosity, loyalty and community. In honor of Prine’s enduring legacy, The Prine Family and The Hello In There Foundation will host a slate of community events, collaborations and tributes across Prine’s beloved hometown of Chicago, where he began his journey to becoming “America’s Poet Laureate” (Variety).

In partnership with the Siskel Film Center, the Hello in There Foundation is proud to present multiple screenings of HOW LUCKY CAN ONE MAN GET (2010), directed by Jim Shea. The film, a concert documentary featuring John Prine, includes previously unreleased footage from John’s May 2010 benefit concert at his alma mater, Proviso East High School, along with reminiscences and storytelling about his time growing up in Maywood, Illinois.
