“FURY ROAD may be a sequel, a reboot or whatever, but it’s so perverse, florid, mannered and dense that it feels like a wild-eyed castaway in the wasteland of Hollywood blockbusters. It’s a work of almost religious horror and beauty — the Sistine Chapel of action filmmaking.” – Bilge Ebiri, Village Voice

“Did George Miller consult radical-feminist tracts of the 1970s when envisioning the electrifying fourth installment of his dystopian franchise? The title character is nearly superfluous; the planet is saved and the patriarchy toppled by woman power, as Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa goes rogue and joins forces with wizened, chopper-riding separatists.” - Melissa Anderson, VIllage Voice

From George Miller, godfather of the post-apocalyptic action flick, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD follows Max (Tom Hardy) as he joins Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) and a group of young women fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig. Escaping a Citadel ruled by the tyrannical Immortan Joe, they have taken something irreplaceable. Enraged, Joe unleashes his armies in a relentless pursuit that erupts into a high-octane road war. Shot primarily on location in the Namibian desert with a massive fleet of over 150 modified vehicles, the movie relied overwhelmingly on practical effects, including real stunts, explosive pyrotechnics, and actors suspended on tension rigs, with CGI used primarily to remove safety wires and enhance desert landscapes. While the onscreen chase is relentless and exhilarating the movie, one can peel back the layers of dust, violence, and speed to find a tender and hopeful quest for home.
