July 4 & 30 | An unofficial kick off to 1967’s “Summer of Love”, the Monterey International Pop Festival ushered in a new era of rock and roll, and featured iconic and career-making performances from Jimi Hendrix (and his burning guitar), Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Simon and Garfunkel, the Mamas and the Papas, and Ravi Shankar.
