"A film that passionately believes in the power of storytelling and its ability to make sense of the world - but it’s also about the value of accepting love." - Iana Murray, London Evening Standard

"George Miller could find more cinema in a single hotel minibar than some contemporary directors could squeeze out of an entire galaxy far, far away, and he manages to do exactly that without unbalancing the delicate soul of this intimate two-hander." - David Ehrlich, Indiewire

"Great pleasure ensues from the constant presence of both Elba and Swinton, who are alert to every possibility presented by the script and then add so much more to it in the bargain; both performances are nothing short of marvelous." - Todd McCarthy, Deadline Hollywood Daily

Based on the short story "The Djinn In The Nightingale’s Eye”, by A.S. Byatt, and directed by the always-pioneering George Miller (MAD MAX franchise, BABE: PIG IN THE CITY, THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK), THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING is a mystical story of love and magic. Tilda Swinton stars as the buttoned up and reasonable Dr. Alithea Binnie, who, while visiting Istanbul to speak at a conference, happens to capture a powerful Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. Because Alithea is a scholar of mythology and knows the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong and turned against the wisher, she and the Djinn settle in to a lively exchange, where the fantastical stories of his past meet with Alithea's logic and expertise, until she finally decides on her wish.
