VOICES EMBODIED: PROGNOSTICATION

Monday, September 14, 6:00 p.m. | Voices Embodied invites you to attend a special evening presented in conjunction with the exhibition, Voices Embodied: Prognostication, at the Design Museum of Chicago. This screening features short films relating to themes of disability, creativity, and accessible engagement and was produced with support and programming collaboration from the Disability and Learning Resource Center (DLRC) at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

These seven films touch on vulnerability, embodiment, and world-building through different perspectives carried by the artists. Through these films, audiences are asked to open their minds to the possibilities of a disability-forward future.

Voices Embodied: Prognostication is the 6th iteration of Voices Embodied, an ongoing series of exhibitions that reconsiders disability in relation to broader conversations about identity, access, and the body, through various forms of art-making through different perspectives carried by the artists. Through these films, audiences are asked to open their minds to the possibilities of a disability-forward future.

Jenni Julia makes light of what might be embarrassing or unpleasant experiences, like medical examinations or unwanted stereotyping and hate speech. She reverses this feeling in a humorous way, accompanied by a dramatized cinematic score.
