"It may get its title from a plainspoken nursery rhyme, but this is a movie that takes place in the shadows, both visually and narratively." - Steve Pond, TheWrap

"WENT UP THE HILL is, after all, a ghost story, but one shaped in a fresh and artful way by a director who, in his second film, already has the control of a master." - Caryn James, The Hollywood Reporter

"WENT UP THE HILL is indeed a ghost story and possession tale, it’s also a story about the very real, very traumatic things that haunt us." - Kate Erbland, Indiewire

Opens August 15 | In this wholly original ghost story, Jack (Dacre Montgomery, Stranger Things) travels to New Zealand to attend the funeral of his estranged mother Elizabeth, and is invited to stay at her home by her grieving widow Jill (Vicky Krieps). Over the nights that follow, Elizabeth’s ghostly presence returns and possesses both Jack and Jill, using each of their bodies to speak to the other, but leaving them with no memories of what was said or done during the possessions. Her spirit conjures up painful childhood memories for Jack, and forces Jill to wonder if she ever really knew her wife. Moody and atmospheric, WENT UP THE HILL is a chilling and unpredictable portrait of grief.
