“Antonioni never made anything better. Cinema was never the same again." - Philip French, Guardian

Thursday, April 6 at 6:15pm | Antonioni explores the disintegration of a marriage in LA NOTTE, the second film in his famous trilogy of L'AVVENTURA and L'ECLISSE, beautifully restored from a scan of a 35mm print. The philandering writer Giovanni (Marcello Mastroianni) and his wife Lidia (Jeanne Moreau) visit the hospital bed of their old friend Tommaso, before making their way to a party to celebrate Giovanni’s new book. Over the course of the evening, the two wander and flirt, but not with each other. As Lidia considers the impending death of Tommaso, and as Giovanni gets closer to the beautiful young Valentina (Monica Vitti), their relationship further crumbles. LA NOTTE is an intoxicating and devastating portrait of love lost.
