“Everything in this heartfelt tale is made with the deepest sincerity, and gently packed with soulful portrayals and lovely imagery.” - Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times

“There may not be a movie more expressive of the season’s benevolent ethos than this hushed work about kith and kindness.” - Lisa Kennedy, New York Times

In this compassionate and lyrical coming-of-age story set in rural Ireland in the 1980s, nine-year-old Cáit lives in a dysfunctional home with her beleaguered mother and her cruel father. With her mother expecting yet another child, Cáit is shipped off to live with her mother’s distant cousin, Eibhlín, and her husband Seán. Cáit’s new foster parents embrace - in their own ways - the wide-eyed, observant little girl, who soon comes to understand that behind their love, there is profound grief. Nominated for the Best International Feature Film at this year’s Academy Awards, Colm Bairéad’s feature debut THE QUIET GIRL is a sensitive and sincere treasure.
