"A joyously elusive flight of fancy." - Jonathan Romney, Screen International

"150 minutes of cinematic joy." - Vladan Petkovic, Cineuropa

"A witty, warm, surprising modern folktale." - Jessica Kiang, Variety

In a chance meeting, soccer player Giorgi and pharmacist Lisa literally bump into one another on the street. We see this exchange only from their knees down, but even with this grounded vantage point, there is magic between the two would-be lovers, and magic in every frame of Alexandre Koberidze's delightfully witty and captivating film. Giorgi and Lisa's plans to meet again - on purpose this time - are undone when they both find themselves transformed by a curse that makes them unrecognizable to one another, and which starts them on a Kafkaesque odyssey back to one another. Set in the Georgian riverside town of Kutaisi, and infused with charming observations of both the fantastical and the ordinary, WHAT DO WE SEE WHEN WE LOOK AT THE SKY? is a joyous and textured cinematic poem.
